Italian exports in the sector held firm at 3.2 billion euros in 2025 (–0.5%). Growth in earthmoving is supporting the sector, while global uncertainties and less dynamic demand are having a negative impact. Positive signals from several international markets.

The networking event organized by Veronafiere welcomed exhibitors and journalists from the Italian and international trade press to preview innovations and technologies in the construction sector as part of the run-up to the 32nd SaMoTer scheduled in Verona. 6-9 May 2026.

The main brands in the sector all set to attend the International Construction Equipment Trade Show in Verona (6-9 May 2026): from CGT to Komatsu, Hyundai and Kobelco, as well as the return by Volvo CE.

The construction machinery sector began the year on a positive note, with 9,946 site vehicles sold on the Italian market between January and June, closing the first half of 2025 with at +3% compared to the same period 2024.

During the run-up to SaMoTer 2026, Veronafiere is delighted to launch the new training hub supporting evolution in the construction machinery sector.

The event will focus debate in the sector on topics such as digitalisation, environmental sustainability, innovation, de-carbonisation, climate-neutral construction processes, professional training and safety.

Veronafiere strengthens its involvement in the construction value chain with Paving Show, the new b2b event specializing in equipment, raw materials, technologies and services for the road paving sector.

The 2024 forecast report analysing the performance of the construction machinery sector prepared by Unacea (National Union of Construction Machinery) and Cer (Centro Europa Ricerche) indicates a downward trend in certain segments of the sector, which in the course of the year may be followed by a physiological slowdown in the construction cycle, which will nevertheless remain robust in overall terms.

The 31st SaMoTer construction machinery exhibition closed today at Veronafiere after attracting more than 40,000 specialist visitors over the five days of the event from 91 countries, with Germany, Spain and France in the first three places in terms of number of arrivals. There was also good attendance from Asia, Africa, North and South America

Without data control, construction sector companies cannot accurately assess and improve their performance and this makes growth more complicated. Today, however, constant and continuous performance monitoring is possible thanks to technology, although it must be fully understood before being implemented

Out of 536 exhibitors at SaMoTer, 115 are international from 23 countries. Unacea: Italian exports of construction machinery in 2022 came to 3 billion euros (+9% over 2021); the balance of trade is in the black by almost 1 billion euros

A stage that until recently was thought could be improvised; however, today, thanks to a virtuous path of innovation, it has to uphold precise and very high safety, environmental and regulatory standards

Technology and digitization help improve safety in the workplace because they enable the implementation of preventive measures to reduce accidents, theft and damage. However, on their own, these items are not enough: it is essential to raise awareness among operators at all levels
